Статтю присвячено висвітленню історії заснування та розвитку Європейського співтовариства з атомної енергії (Євратом). Досліджено причини і мотивація європейських країн зі створення власної організації у сфері співпраці з мирного використання атомної (ядерної) енергії. Надано загальну характеристику перших років функціонування цієї організації. Увагу приділено статусу Євратома після набуття чинності Лісабонської угоди 2007 р. Окремо висвітлено становлення та розвиток відносин Євратома з Міжнародним агентством з атомної енергії (МАГАТЕ) та діяльність Євратома на сучасному етапі, підкреслено його роль у функціонуванні Європейського Союзу.
