У статті проведено діахронний огляд формування номінативно-когнітивних особливостей англомовної юридичної термінології, що є основою сучасного функціонування полісемії та варіативності юридичної термінології. Афоризми та запозичені юридичні терміни з французької, кельтської та латинської мов сформували сучасний термінологічний пласт англійської юридичної терміносистеми, який потребує зміни полісемії однозначністю.
